After last show’s on-air meltdown (did you miss it?), I have been forced by the managing corporation to change formats or leave. So, this week I’ll be mixing it up with some live literary passages (I’ll be reading chapters from The Shortest Spy in Bangkok, my novella in process), the hippest sports talk on the fm dial (we’ll be dissecting the upcoming final weekend of the NCAA), lots of family-friendly positive message music from Paschal Lamb, Testa and Jars of Clay, and even some straight ahead comedy from “The Wrecking Krew”.

Really. Join me this Friday at 1 pm (Chicago time) for a listen to the new and improved show, where - despite the changes - the mood will always remain lower than the ceiling. That’s a promise you can take to your accountant.

I’m back…and the numbers are in: 34 discs, 364 songs, 1.1 days of recorded music I acquired in Beijing. Mostly rock and roll (lots sung in English), but also nice samplings of experimental, folk, pop and electronic madness. Join me this Friday as I spin some highlights, share some cool travel stories, and conduct my call-in contest for listeners to guess 1) how many times did I eat “hot pot” ? and 2) how many times did I do laundry? (hint for both: I was in China fourteen days).
