This weekend’s show at The Bottom Lounge was a blast of energy and charisma from start to finish. The Frights headlined an unforgettable show with supporting acts from Billy Joel Jr and Remo Drive, delivering the perfect blend of noise and intensity. Billy Joel Jr., based right here in Chicago, opened up the show with explosive energy, kicking the show off with an effortlessly charming set. Their classic indie rock sound instantly pulled the crowd in and set a lively tone for the evening. Then, Remo Drive took the stage, hitting that sweet spot between talented musicianship and spontaneity. Their set involved quite a bit of playful banter with the crowd, beginning with answering odd questions from the crowd and ending with Portillo’s fries being tossed into audience members’ mouths.

When The Frights took over, the room shifted from buzzing excitement to full-on frenzy. They kicked off their set with infectious confidence, playing through songs from their debut EP in 2013 up to their most recent release from August of this year. Ready When You Are, both the title of their newest album and the namesake of their tour, carries The Frights’ signature mix of garage grit and dynamic momentum that defines both the record and the band.Fan favorites like “Tungs”, “Mom’s Van”, and “You Are Going to Hate This” had the crowd shouting every lyric back, while newer material slid in seamlessly, demonstrating how the band’s sound continues to evolve without losing its punch. The mix of passionate artistry and audience interaction turned the show into something that felt personal, making it all the more memorable. The crowd’s energy, the band’s fervor, and the sheer volume all came together for a performance that was loud, loose, and wildly fun. The Frights at The Bottom Lounge was everything live music should be- raw, exciting, and absolutely unforgettable.
